Clarkesville, GA – Fatal Crash Reported on GA-17 near Apache Way

Clarkesville, GA (November 12, 2024) – A fatal accident reported in Habersham County in the Clarksville area claimed one person’s life on Tuesday, November 12.

Reports from local law enforcement indicate that a motor vehicle accident took place on Georgia Highway 17 near Apache Way. Apparently a Dodge Ram and a Ford F-150 were traveling opposite directions on Highway 17 when the driver of the Dodge Ram failed to maintain his lane, overcorrected, and ended up in the path of the Ford. The left rear end of the Dodge struck the front end of the Ford, causing the Dodge to go down an embankment and hit several trees.

Authorities arrived at the scene and immediately shut down the roadway. One person involved in the accident, 21-year-old Josie Carlson of Blackshear, was fatally injured and immediately pronounced deceased by authorities. Two additional victims were injured and rushed to a local hospital for emergency care. At this time, the incident is under investigation.
