Gainesville, GA (November 14, 2024) – The Georgia State Patrol responded to the scene of a car accident in Gainesville on Tuesday morning, November 12. Reports show the incident occurred at approximately 6:00 a.m. on Interstate 985 near the Elachee Drive Overpass.

At the scene, officers found a Chevrolet Malibu and a Kenworth truck that had been involved in an accident. Troopers determined that a 66-year-old driver, identified as Eddie Lee of Dahlonega, struck the Malibu while attempting to change lanes. The Malibu’s driver, Nahetzy Filomeno, 23, of Gainesville, complained of a shoulder injury at the scene. Police in Gainesville continue to investigate the details of the accident.
