Gainesville, GA – Two Hurt in Crash After Police Chase on Green St

Gainesville, GA (April 28, 2025) – Police in Hall County are charging a teenager from Norcross with numerous traffic offenses after a car chase that ended in a collision on Saturday night, April 26. Police informed that the 18-year-old was taken to Hall County Jail on Monday.

According to reports, a speeding Camaro was spotted heading toward Green Street at approximately 6:15 p.m. Police pursued the vehicle at the Riverside Drive/Green Street split, causing the suspect to flee northbound, turn left onto Burnam Wood Drive, and strike the deputy’s push bar. The chase continued north on Thompson Bridge Road, just before the police lost sight of the suspect’s Camaro. Other police in the area then spotted the vehicle and followed it on Thompson Bridge Road to Dunlap Landing Road, where the Georgia State Patrol entered the pursuit. While the speeding vehicle was traveling south on Green Street, it traveled into the northbound lane, where it sideswiped a BMW. The driver of the BMW was transported to the hospital with serious injuries. A passenger inside the Camaro also sustained injuries in the accident. Police continue to investigate the incident.

We hope for the full and rapid recovery of the injured victims.

Georgia Traffic Accidents

Georgia consistently ranks among the top five states for traffic accidents, with more than 400,000 collisions reported each year. These accidents happen for many reasons — from poor road conditions and mechanical failures to the most common cause: driver negligence. Nationwide, negligent driving is responsible for over 90% of car crashes.

Distracted driving is a major issue in Georgia, contributing to over 20% of all reported accidents. Between 2012 and 2021, the number of drivers observed using their phones while driving increased by approximately 82%. At just 50 miles per hour, looking at your phone for five seconds is like driving the length of two football fields blindfolded — a split-second distraction that can cause catastrophic damage.

Other frequent forms of negligence on the road include speeding, intoxication, and driver fatigue. In a recent year alone, more than 1,500 lives were lost nationwide due to drowsy driving.

If you or a loved one has been seriously injured in a Georgia car accident, you deserve support. Filing a personal injury claim may help you recover financial compensation for medical bills, lost income, pain and suffering, and more.
